Toluca Valley Aqueduct Socioeconomic Assessment
“Cost-benefit analysis on construction of an aqueduct located in Toluca Valley ”, that captures water from the Nevado of Toluca, Dam deposit in Ignacio Ramirez and there Cutzamala injects the aqueduct system to increase its volume driven.. This additional amount would be used to benefit five municipalities in eastern state of Mexico and capture runoff also serve to prevent flooding in the city of TolucaMain objectives
Solve the shortage of drinking water to the eastern part of the Metropolitan Area of Mexico.
Lost 3 runoff basins that discharge into the metropolitan area of Toluca, to prevent flooding to the area.
Benefited from the project area
The project is developed around the Toluca Valley, however the target population, is located in the municipalities of the State of Mexico with the Federal District, the east, with Chalco, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Nezahualcoyotl and Valle de Chalco Solidaridad .
Project
The project consists of water conveyance of the Chiquito and San Pedro rivers Dam Ignacio Ramirez through the Almoloya river and catchment runoff in the basin of the dam itself, purification, pumping and driving through an aqueduct length variable, which connects the conduit of the Cutzamala system to supply drinking water to five municipalities in the East of the State of Mexico.
The project, besides being a complementary source of supply of drinking water for the Cutzamala System, mitigate the effects of flooding caused by the channels passing north of the metropolitan area of the city of Toluca in the rainy season.
