Analysis of the Entry Ports into the United States-Mexico Border
FOA Consulting and the Institute of Transport of the Texas A & M University (TTI) conducted an analysis of the current situation (year 2014) of the ports of entry between Mexico and the United States, as well as existing projects to build border infrastructure between its border.The analysis of the current situation (year 2014) of the ports of entry between Mexico and the United States included the following topics:
a) Synthesis of institutional visions of the border crossings and international bridges governments of Mexico and the United States.
b) Mapping of existing international bridges crossing the border between Mexico and the United States, as well as the projects under implementation and proposals for the future. Projects are nested according to their impact on the border port can be:
I. Binational: Infrastructure projects that affect the operation of a border crossing in both countries.
II. National: Infrastructure projects affecting the operations of a border port in a country.
III. New projects: Projects to build new border ports.
c) Evaluation of current financing mechanisms and identification of new options to develop projects of this nature.
d) Port of Entry Information System – POEIS
e) Creating an online software platform that will track:
I. The state of the current infrastructure and projects under implementation.
II. Proposals for new projects by federal and local authorities in both countries and will serve as a support for the planning process of the Border Regional Master Plans (PMFR). The database created will be the exclusive property of the two Governments and shall be administered by federal agencies allocate the same.
The created tool is called Information System Infrastructure in Border Ports (Port of Entry Information System- POEIS) and is available on the following temporary link until the final version is released:
